Quick steps
- Open Show transcript on YouTube. Only works when the video has captions or an auto transcript YouTube chooses to display.
- Paste into this page. Drop plain transcript text, or paste existing SRT / VTT. Optionally add the watch URL for your own reference.
- Choose TXT, SRT, or VTT. TXT for notes; SRT/VTT for editors. Plain text → timed formats uses simple sequential cues unless you paste timed captions.
- Export. Download the file. Keep only what you have rights to use.
What you can export today
Working now: paste → preview → export TXT (priority), plus SRT and VTT. Timed paste is preserved; plain lines become simple cues for draft subtitles.

Related questions
Does this download any YouTube video?
No. It exports transcript / caption text you paste. It is not a video file downloader and does not promise access to every URL.
Why is auto-fetch from a URL disabled?
This release prioritizes a lawful paste → export path. Remote caption fetch is specified for later only if a permissioned / official path exists — see the project spec. We will not ship scrape-or-bypass instructions.
What if the video has no captions?
There is nothing to export. YouTube must expose a transcript or caption track first. We do not invent speech-to-text for blocked or captionless videos.
Can I use the SRT for commercial uploads?
Only with rights. Captions inherit copyright from the underlying work. Get permission before republishing.
